Fostering Successful Partnerships in Watershed Protection in the US and Russia

Joint project with the Institute of Limnology of the Russian Academy of Sciences (St. Petersburg)the “Clear Waters of Neva” (St. Petersburg), the Regional Youth Movement “EcoShield” (St. Petersburg) and the Baltic Fund for Nature of St. Petersburg Naturalists Societythe Program “Save Our Rivers (SOR)” (USA)the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (USA) and the Towson University (USA).

Cooperative exchange project between scientists and representatives of non-governmental organizations involved in watershed protection from the United States and Russia. Goals: to forge partnerships between citizen groups and expert scientists from universities and research organizations in the United States and Russia to address water pollution problems; to assess and develop strategies to improve political opportunities for citizen involvement in watershed protection in Russia and the US. The comparative sociological analysis of NGOs protecting watersheds in the US and Russia was conducted.
